General

Do our products come with any type of Warranty?

Our product comes with a limited 1-year warranty. For more details please contact our Support team – support@snappower.com

Do our products work with GFCI outlets?

At this time our products are not compatible with GFCI outlets.  GFCI outlets can be identified by the test and reset buttons between the plugs.

What is the typical turnaround time?

All orders take about 1-2 business days to process, and then an additional 2-6 business days for shipping within the US / 6-12 business days for shipping to Canada.

Are batteries required?

Absolutely not. The Guidelight draws power directly from the outlet.

What if my outlets are horizontal?

No problem! The product will install horizontally and work just fine. The LED lights will illuminate to the side rather than the ground – We have many customers who have done this and love it!

What countries do you ship to?

We currently ship to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Is our product available in stores?

At this time we only sell through our website, we are not in any retail stores.

Will I pay duty fee’s if I am international?

Customs and duties are fees applied to imported goods or products into your country. Unfortunately, we have no control over these charges and cannot predict if they will be charged or not.  Likewise, if they are charged we have no control over the amount that is collected.  There are some cases when duties fees are not collected at all.

When ordering from SnapPower, you are responsible for these fees as well as assuring that you can lawfully import them into your country.

SnapPower Guidelights

How long will the LEDs in the Guidelight last?

The Guidelight will last for up to 25 years before the LEDs begin to dim.

How much does it cost to operate a Guidelight?

The Guidelight costs around 10 cents a year to power (depending on your local cost of power).

What is the size of the Guidelight?

To view the spec sheet for the Guidelight please go to the following link.. https://www.snappower.com/cut-sheet/

How does the Guidelight turn on and off?

The amount of light the Guidelight puts out is designed to increase or decrease slowly depending on the amount of light in the room.  They should be at full brightness when the room is completely dark and slowly dim as the room gets lighter. We have designed the Guidelight to only turn completely off when the room is lit quite well.  We have noticed that the threshold at which the lights turn completely off is a little high for some people’s rooms and hallways depending on where they are located.  There is currently no option to adjust this on your end but we hope to add this feature sometime down the road.

Depending on where they are located my guess is that they should go off during the day with sunlight. As far as power consumption goes you should still be fine. Even with the Guidelight on 24/7 it will still last up to 15 years and only use around 10 cents of power for the entire year. We have purposely designed it to be extremely energy efficient

Is the Guidelight UL or ETL approved?

Yes! The Guidelight is UL approved in the U.S. and ETL approved in both the U.S. and Canada.

SnapPower Chargers

What devices are compatible with the Charger?

All of them! The Charger charges all devices that use a standard USB.

How long will my Charger last?

We engineered the Charger with premium parts to ensure that it lasts for as long as possible. We estimate that the Charger will last for at least 10 years under normal use.

What is the size of the Charger?

To view the spec sheet for the Charger please go to the following link.. https://www.snappower.com/charger-cut-sheet/

Does the Charger come with surge protection?

Yes. Similar to other USB charging devices, the Charger has built-in surge protection.

Can I install the Charger upside down (with the USB port above the outlet)?

The SnapPower Charger is designed to work in only one orientation. The USB port is designed to be installed on the same side as the ground prongs on the outlet. For example: If the ground prongs on the outlet are facing down, the Charger will need to be installed with the USB port beneath the outlet.  If the ground prongs on the outlet are facing up, then the Charger will need to be installed with the USB port above the outlet.

How long will my devices take to charge?

Charging times will vary depending on the actual device being charged, size of battery and manufacturer. However, it should be similar to any brand name 1 amp charger on the market. For example, the charge time is comparable to the 1 amp Apple charger that comes standard with the new iPhones 6 and 6 Plus. To give you an idea, we recently ran some numbers and did some testing. We charged Apple devices with the SnapPower Charger and below are roughly the charge times from 0% to 100%.

iPhone 6: 2 hours
iPhone 6 Plus: 3 hours
iPad Air: 8 hours
iPad Air 2: 7.5 hours

What about a 2.1 amp Charger?

The 1 amp Charger was the perfect blend of function, form and speed to market. While we believe we will be able to offer a 2.1 amp version of the Charger in the future, our focus is to get a quality product into your home, and we believe we’ve accomplished that with our Chargers! We’ve done a lot of research and testing and have yet to find a USB compatible device that does not charge with our 1 amp SnapPower Charger (although some tablets and other larger devices rated for 2.1 will take longer to charge).

How many USB ports are available in the Charger?

At this time, the SnapPower Charger comes with one charging port. We are committed to providing a sleek, well designed USB charging product that blends in with your home. To add additional ports will require a redesign and likely increase in size of the Charger.

Is the Charger UL or ETL approved?

Yes! The Charger is UL approved in both the U.S. and Canada.

SnapPower SafeLights

How long will the LEDs in the SafeLight last?

The SafeLights will last for up to 25 years before the LEDs begin to dim.

How much does it cost to operate a SafeLight?

The SafeLight costs around 10 cents a year to power (depending on your local cost of power).

How does the SafeLight turn on and off?

There are 2 ways that the SafeLight turns on and off:

  1. It has a small switch on the face of the plate that can adjust the brightness levels to dim and bright. There is also an “off” setting, so if you ever want the lights off, even during the night, just turn the switch off!
  2. Located behind the switch is a light sensor. This light sensor will automatically turn the LEDs off during the day, and at night, the LEDs will turn back on gradually as the light in the room is decreased.

Is the SafeLight UL or ETL approved?

No. SnapPower’s core prong technology, which is used to draw power from the outlet, is UL and ETL certified—see the FAQs for Guidelight and Charger certificaiton—but the sliding safety cover itself is not UL approved. There are actually many products that only have sliding safety covers (without the lights on the bottom like ours) that are sold in numerous, large retail stores that are not UL certified either. This is because the sliding safety covers make it so the plug sticks out of the outlet ever-so-slightly, so UL is unable to approve the product.
